the 1999 is somewhat one-dimensional and not likely to improve considerably from here

but time has shown what was perhaps less apparent when the wines were young

(from 5 different parcels located in La Columbière

this acts like a young Barolo

Weinbach, Pinot Gris Altenbourg SGN Vintage:2007 and although I still bought(for 375 ml.; 9. 9% alcohol, 161 g l r. s. and 10 grams of acidity) Deep yellow gold. Carnal, exotic aromas of orange blossom, game, smoke and earth. Superripe, thick and powerful, but given great penetration by almost painful acidity. Wonderfully dense and concentrated wine with a tactile, salty finish that refuses to let up. Like the '07 Riesling SGN, this is just hinting at the complexity to come. Stephen Tanzer
